Bad Bunny Samples A Missy Elliott Classic On “Safaera”

His collaboration with Jowell & Randy and Ñengo Flow, titled “Safaera,” includes a sample of Missy Elliott’s “Get Ur Freak On.” During a beat switch that begins on the third verse of “Safaera,” Bad Bunny’s frequent collaborator Tainy and DJ Orma directly sample the Timbaland-produced “Get Ur Freak On,” which is heavily influenced by bhangra music originating from the Punjab region of India. “Get Ur Freak On” was released as the lead single from Missy’s third studio album, Miss E… So Addictive.
Thanks to its unique, futuristic production, the song reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was eventually certified Platinum and became one of Missy’s signature hits.
