A 'self-centred' alcoholic who avoided a prison sentence for poisoning her ex-partner has been now jailed for leaving two children home alone so she could go clubbing.
Laura Hopkin, 35, from Meir, Stoke-on-Trent, left a baby and a schoolgirl on their own while she swigged a bottle of wine at the club in Hanley last October.
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard she had tried to find a babysitter and when she couldn't find one she went out anyway. She was spotted in the club by a neighbour who decided to check on the children's welfare when she returned home at 4.30am.
Hopkin had locked both doors so the neighbour climbed through a window where she found the girl crying and the baby soaked in urine, StokeonTrent Live reports.
