The auditors had 'limited' assurance in Wharton Primary School – although councillors have been told that there is no evidence fraud has taken place.
Internal audit manager David Smith explained that the issues identified at the Little Hulton school were 'a lot of little things', rather than any 'showstoppers'.
This includes evidence that governors signed off the school's annual budget. He said: "Wharton's a curious case. There was nothing particularly alarming from an audit perspective.
