Armed cops arrest three people on EasyJet plane at Stansted Airport after 'bomb hoax'

Easyjet plane at Stansted Airport on suspicion of making a bomb hoax on Wednesday evening (October 19).The runway was closed while officers dealt with the security alert as several flights were forced to circle the skies following the incident that occurred yesterday evening.Officers from Essex Police boarded the EasyJet flight that was bound for Amsterdam and its official Twitter account posted on the incident and provided updates.The police tweeted: "Our officers have worked quickly and robustly to resolve a security alert on board an EasyJet flight at Stansted, destined for Amsterdam, and arrest three people. "We received a call reporting a security concern on a plane on the ground at the airport shortly after 7.40pm today."The Essex force said the plane was "moved to a secure part of the airport".They explained: "Specialist officers boarded the plane and removed three men who have all been arrested on suspicion of making a bomb hoax and they are currently in custody."Following a search of the plane we are satisfied there is nothing of concern on board."The force added that disruption was kept to a "minimum" and the airport was able to "fully reopen quickly" following a swift check undertaken by Essex Police.To stay up to date with all the latest news, make sure you sign up to one of our newsletters here.A London Stansted Airport spokesperson had said: “A flight due to depart from London Stansted to Amsterdam is currently parked on a remote stand while police conduct extra security checks."The airport’s runway was closed for a short time but has now fully re-opened.”One passenger who had his plane diverted took to Twitter to explain his situation: "Been diverted to Birmingham after circling Stansted for half.
