Wilko customers are furious over a new rule change allowing pet dogs into its stores. Shoppers are threatening to boycott the discount supermarket chain as they fear buying peed-on items and getting allergic reactions.The new nationwide policy has been introduced because “many customers think of pets as family members”, Wilko says.

The announcement has angered customers further by not outlining dogs would have to remain on the lead, Daily Record reports.

Pet owners will now be able to shop with their four-legged friend at their side in over two-thirds of Wilko’s home and garden stores with only food aisles off limits.A disgruntled customer wrote: “This is no good for my child that has anaphylaxis reactions to animal dander and saliva.“Service dogs have their place in stores and we can avoid them and monitor, they are well behaved etc..
