Amal Clooney is stepping down from her role as Special Envoy on Media Freedom to the British Foreign Secretary due to the government's decision to "break international law" should it need to override a Brexit agreement.Clooney's appointment was announced in April 2019, with the renowned human rights lawyer joining a panel of experts to help create solutions to the dangers facing journalists around the world.
However, Clooney has now quit the role in protest, following the British government's admission that it would break international law if it was deemed necessary to do so, should Brexit negotiations break down further, per the BBC.In response to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's admission, Clooney sent her resignation to Foreign.
