Alton Towers closed its waterpark after a number of staff members and guests complained of irritation to their eyes and throat.
Fire officers, medics and an air ambulance were called to the Staffordshire resort this afternoon. An investigation is now underway to find out what caused the symptoms after 39 people - including six children - were assessed by paramedics and then discharged without treatment.
A spokesman for Alton Towers said a decision was taken to close at about 1pm after a “small number of people reported irritation of the eyes and throat”.
