The 31-year-old made an ill-fated move to Old Trafford in January 2018 after lighting up the Premier League during his three-and-a-half season stint at Arsenal .
Sanchez was viewed as the final piece of the jigsaw which would allow then manager Jose Mourinho to get United back competing for the Premier League title on a regular basis.
Having snatched the forward out of the grasp of rivals Manchester City by offering him an extortionate £400,000 a week, United were expecting a great return on their investment.
