Jose Mourinho 's two-and-a-half season stint in charge of Manchester United was a manic roller-coaster ride. The Portuguese tactician spent big in the transfer market, won the League Cup and Europa League and finished second in the Premier League before he was sacked in 2018 with the club languishing 19 points off the top of the table.
Despite the rocky way his reign at Old Trafford ended, two decisions Mourinho made have been paying dividends under current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Mourinho made former youth team boss Kieran McKenna and ex-United midfielder Michael Carrick part of his coaching staff and the pair have become two of Solskjaer's most trusted lieutenants.
