zoo in the UK. Ecstatic staff at Marwell Zoo, Hampshire, shared cute snaps of the rare Javan chevrotain mouse deer - which weighed in at a tiny 13oz (370g).
The species is normally found on Java in Indonesia, where it is hunted and traded for wild meat and as pets. They are about the size of a rat when they are born and can run and jump soon after birth.
The adorable little guy is doing well, with parents Gus and Gwen proud as punch following the birth of their bundle of joy. It is welcome good news for the zoo, which has lost more than £4 million in revenue due to the coronavirus pandemic.
