Addiewell Prison in West Lothian has announced plans to restart socially distanced family visits.In recent months cons in the jail have only been permitted virtual visits from loved ones due to the Covid-19 pandemic.The prisoners initially went weeks without visits but a virtual system was set up for them to contact people on the outside in a supervised environment.Prison visiting areas were revamped and fitted with computer screens and broadband connections to enable prisoners and their families to see one another and to talk without anyone having to travel to the jail.However, with lockdown measures being lifted physical visits are set to return.Director of HMP Addiewell, Fraser Munro, reached out to family and friends of residents at the.
