Tributes are flooding in for a seven-girl-old stabbed to death while walking with her family in a park on Mother's Day. The girl was killed in what police described as a 'totally unprovoked and random attack' in Queen's Park in Bolton on Sunday afternoon.

A 30-year-old woman, who was detained at the scene by a member of the public, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Police say she has no connection to the little girl's family.

Earlier today Assistant Chief Constable Russ Jackson led the tributes to the victim. He said: "Words cannot describe how awful this attack is. "This is a family’s worst nightmare.
