With Black Lives Matter protests happening all over America for the past week in reaction to the frequent, unaccountable murders of Black people by the police, there has been a concurrent push to celebrate Black lives through art and appreciate the contributions that Black people make to American culture.
One such area of culture is film, where Black directors have made incredible features and documentaries, many of which have changed the world.
There's a study that shows reading fiction builds empathy. I don't know if watching movies works in the same way, but I think it's fair to assume that it doesn't make you less empathetic.
