Roast dinner staple the Yorkshire pud has been named Britain’s favourite regional speciality. The humble flour, eggs and milk mix has risen to the top and beaten rivals from across the country from arch rival Lancashire hotpot and Devon and Cornwall’s cream teas to Cheddar cheese and Haggis.
Figures from supermarket chain Tesco show sales of Yorkshire puds have soared 23 per cent year-on-year and one in five Brits reckon it’s the best part of a roast dinner.
While they are eaten by millions at least once a week, almost half have never made one from scratch, the survey of more than 2,000 adults found.
