Jamie, who has been in the legal role since 2008, says that he has always done what is best for her famous daughter. Under the arrangement, Britney is not able to make any important life decisions without her dad's approval.
Following the Framing Britney Spears documentary, which aired in the UK this week, and pressure from campaigners to hand control over to the star, 68-year-old Jamie released a statement.
Britney, 39, has said she wants her father removed as her conservator, but a judge has ordered that he and Bessemer Trust will now have equal power over her finances.
