Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Greg Docherty admits he had to leave Rangers after his dream move became a career low point. The 24-year-old midfielder moved south for a £400,000 fee last summer after failing to make the breakthrough into Steven Gerrard 's first-team plans.

Having left Hamilton in 2018, Docherty had two successful loan spells at Shrewsbury and Hibs but it wasn't enough to put him in the bosses plans.

Having been a standout for the English League One side this term in their fight for the title, Docherty can reflect now and admit his Ibrox experience made him stronger.However, he admits he was finding it tough to watch on from the sidelines despite turning out for his boyhood heroes.Docherty told The Mail on Sunday: "I had to leave.
