Sunseekers left piles of rubbish strewn on beaches after enjoying the sunshine on the hottest day of the year. As the sun rose early this morning there were scenes of devastation on beaches such as Bournemouth and Brighton on the south coast.
Tents were left on Bournemouth beach overnight along with piles of rubbish such as empty beer and cider bottles, takeaway food bags and discarded cans of Strongbow.
A dog walker in Brighton wrote on Twitter: "Went for an early morning walk with our dog. What is wrong with people? Loads of rubbish on the beach everywhere. "I feel for the street cleaners.
