£2.6million lottery jackpot after the newsagent misheard her and gave her an extra ticket by mistake. The unnamed woman from Australia claimed the top prize of $4.8million (£2.6million) on the Set for Life Lotto.

According to the Daily Mirror, she told reporters that she normally buys just two tickets, but was mistakenly given and paid for an extra one when the store worker misheard her.

She said: "I usually buy a standard two-game entry, but when I purchased this ticket, the guy didn’t hear me correctly and he gave me three games instead. “The third game is the one that won this prize for me, so it feels like it was meant to be!

It wouldn’t have happened otherwise." When the woman checked her lottery ticket, she said she couldn't believe her luck, saying that she was totally "gobsmacked".
