lottery jackpot of more than $70,000 almost shot herself in the foot by refusing to answer calls from the Lottery for days as she thought it was a scam.

The unnamed woman lives in the Frenchs Forest region of New South Wales and only found out about her incredible win when she finally picked up the phone.

She revealed she had bought a ticket for the February 25 draw but hadn't checked her ticket before she was bombarded with calls and emails. However, rather than responding to the flurry of correspondence, she dug her heels in and declined each message reasoning that it must be a cruel hoax.

She said: "I received some phone calls and emails straight after the draw, but I didn't recognise the phone number or email, so I didn't answer or take any notice! "I said to myself, 'It's definitely a scam.'"After living in blissful ignorance (bar her constantly vibrating phone) the woman eventually remembered she had bought a ticket and logged in to check.
