Peter Kay was one of the biggest names on the UK comedy circuit, regularly leaving audiences in stitches.He had his own shows, regularly tore up the stage, cameoed in tonnes of TV shows and even reinvented and made immortal Tony Christie's 1971 hit (Is This The Way To) Amarillo.Then, almost overnight, he just stopped.In 2017, the 48-year-old from Bolton stepped back from the public eye entirely, cancelling an enormous 100+-show tour for “unforeseen family reasons”.Now, almost as swiftly as he disappeared, the That Peter Kay Thing star is back as rumours swirl about a huge new nationwide tour.The Sun reports that Kay is going to announce his 2023 comeback tour this year, in what will be his first shows in 12 years.Announcing his decision to step back from performing in 2017, Kay said in a statement: "Due to unforeseen family circumstances I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects."This unfortunately includes my upcoming stand-up tour, Dance For Life shows and any outstanding live work commitments."My sincerest apologies.
