Newcastle supporters won't know whether to laugh or cry after seeing the Saudi Arabian-backed consortium pull out of a deal to buy their club.
On the one hand, their chances of finally seeing the back of controversial owner Mike Ashley have gone down the drain.But on the other, Magpies fans no longer have to wrestle with the moral dilemma of getting behind potential new majority owners with a human rights record that is nothing short of deplorable.As poor as Ashey has proved since buying the club for £135m in 2007, it was always difficult to fathom why a section of fans still wanted Saudis owning the Magpies instead.The prospect of a huge spending bonanza might be one answer, but who knows what might have happened?
