Roy Keane says Manchester United were 'never' going to approach him over the vacant managerial position at Old Trafford, but failed to rule out a return to management.
The former Ireland international enjoyed a glittering playing career with United before going into management where he was in charge of Sunderland in the Premier League and then Ipswich.
Keane hasn't managed since he departed Portman Road a decade ago but did take on assistant manager roles at the Republic of Ireland, Aston Villa and, most recently, Nottingham Forest.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked on Sunday before Michael Carrick took the reins for the win over Villarreal before their trip to Chelsea.
