Given that Aksu was also the first of the three to show, there was an almost festive atmosphere in Covent Garden as the fashion crowd greeted each other from a safe distance for the first time in months and posed for street-style photographers who were clicking away frantically after what must have been a very lean summer.

Thirty of us shuffled one-by-one through the doors of St Paul’s Church – which is fittingly also known as the Actor’s Church – and everyone popped on their black, navy or even green-velvet masks.
