New Universal Credit, PIP, ESA and other DWP benefit payment rates from next month
dailyrecord.co.ukThe UK Government recently confirmed that State Pension and benefits delivered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) including Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) will increase by 3.1 per cent next month.
The payment rate changes were signed off last month in the House of Commons are and will come into effect on April 11, 2022, for people receiving State Pension or benefits through the DWP in Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland where corresponding provisions will be made there.
The Joseph Rowntree Foundation recently called on the UK Government to increase all DWP-delivered benefits by 7% in line with the current predicted rate of inflation and warned that sticking to the 3.1% uptake would result in 400,000 families relying on benefits being plunged into poverty.
While payment rates are rising, so too are energy bills which are set to increase by nearly £700 per year for millions of households in April while National Insurance Contributions are also rising, which means take home pay for every worker in the UK will change.
