West Ham have significantly improved Chelsea's hopes of landing Sevilla defender Jules Kounde after the Hammers dumped them out of the Europa League. The Spanish side are the Europa League's most successful side, with six titles, but they were hapless to stop Andriy Yarmolenko from firing West Ham through.
And according to Spanish-outlet Sport, the result means Sevilla are 'doomed to sell' Kounde.Chelsea had looked set to land the Frenchman over the summer, but the two sides couldn't agree on a fee.
The Blues could move for Kounde again this summer with three defenders all out of contract at Stamford Bridge. However, any move for the defender will rely on Chelsea's current ownership situation.
As things stand, Chelsea are not able to conduct any transfer business due to sanctions against their current owner Roman Abramovich.
