Hundreds of travellers have descended on a village horse fair despite calls for it to be scrapped over coronavirus fears. Organisers of the Wellingborough Horse Fair said concerns had been a "major overreaction" and the annual event near Wollaston, Northamptonshire this weekend would comply with Covid guidelines.
The town's MP Peter Bone previously branded it "irresponsible". Dozens of caravans and vehicles could be seen packed onto a field with around 200 people expected at the event over the Bank Holiday weekend, despite it being against the law to hold gatherings of more than 30 people.
