theplaylist.net“The Wire” wrapped up almost a decade-and-a-half ago, but it’s still one of HBO‘s most beloved shows. A lot of that comes from showrunner David Simon.
Simon had credentials no one else could bring to that show as a journalist at The Baltimore Sun for thirteen years, as well as his 1991 book, “Homicide: A Year On The Killing Streets.” Paired with crime novelist George Pelecanos, Simon’s influence made “The Wire” one of the best all-around TV series of all time.
