Children across the UK are being hit by a worrying coronavirus -related condition similar to "toxic shock syndrome", a new report has warned.

Doctors were issued with an "urgent alert" about the new syndrome following a rise in cases over the last few weeks, according to the Health Service Journal.

Youngsters are suffering from an unnamed inflammatory syndrome which can cause several unpleasant symptoms, including abdominal pain and cardiac inflammation, The Mirror reports.

While some of the children suffering it have not had coronavirus, some have tested positive for Covid-19 or have had it in the past, according to the report.The alert said: “The cases have in common overlapping features of toxic shock syndrome and atypical Kawasaki
