Medical professionals are predicting that suffering will continue for some time after lockdown measures are lifted. There are fears of long-term medical effects for members of the public who endure life-saving treatments while in Intensive Care Units in hospitals, such as being hooked up to ventilators – according to the Guardian.
Psychologists are also expressing concern that the long term mental health effects on people left feeling isolated due to lockdown measures could be more profound than expected.
