'UK wrestling has long way to go for women's equality,' says bat-wielding brawler Ivy

wrestling scene for the last five or so years.And it's fair to say that the 32-year-old, who battles in the ring under the name Ivy, has seen anything and everything that it has to offer.But if there's one thing she would change now, it would be the lack of equality when it comes to women's matches on British shows.As someone who has been to several shows since the post-pandemic era of independent wrestling in the UK kicked off, there are more women on the card than ever before – and the females, from Lizzy Evo, Lucia Lee and Alexxis Falcon, to Rhio, Maria May and Ivy herself, are arguably some of the most popular talent around.However, for Lindsay, more work is needed.The Sheffield-native, who works in the banking industry, exclusively told the Daily Star at a Catch Pro Wrestling event in Manchester: “I think it's been much better, but there's still inequality in the ring.“There are a lot more promotions that are doing two women's matches now, which is great, but why are there not three, why are there not four?“It's hard to really explain it, because a lot of people aren't against women's wrestling any more, but because they're not against women's wrestling, it's hard to explain to them that there is still this prejudice, because they don't get it.“The all-women's shows, live EVE Pro Wrestling, are so strong – you don't have one bad match, because the talent is so strong.“I don't think there's a problem with anyone, but we're still celebrating when there's two women's matches on a card.“We all need to be more conscious to push and strive for more.“Lots of promotions are making positive changes, so I don't want to blame this on promotions – it's everyone involved that needs to push for more change.”Lindsay started her.
