torrential rain and 85mph gusts battering Brits over the past week has caused havoc on the roads and plans for those celebrating lockdown rules easing.However, the latest Met Office forecast brings "hope on the horizon" for the treacherous conditions to subside.As bookies are slashing odds of May being the wettest ever on record, parts of the UK have seen more rainfall than the average for this time of year.However, Aidan McGivern, meteorologist for the Met Office, says next week could look brighter.
He told LancsLive, that the wet and wild weather we've experienced is down to blocking an 'anti-cyclone.' Aidan said: "May's weather has also been down to a blocking anti-cyclone - but, if you don't like the rain, you could argue this blocking.
