A scorching end to the week could see temperatures surge to 26C on Friday in southern England - before a washout weekend. The weather is set to dramatically turn over the weekend, with downpours nationwide on Saturday.
Rain will also hit Scotland and the north of England from Thursday, with some downpours heavy, as high temperatures are limited to just 15 or 16C in parts.
But London and the South East will enjoy sunny and warm weather over the next couple of days. Temperatures on Thursday will rise to 23C in the South East before being even hotter on Friday.
Staycations will be ruined days after school holidays started, with rain hitting the South West – popular with tourists – the Midlands, London and the North this weekend.
