UK weather forecast: Met Office warning extended as thunderstorms smash nation

Thunder and torrential rain will continue to cause havoc across Britain, with further risk of flooding. The Met Office has issued a thunderstorm yellow weather warning in southern England and South Wales from midday until 9pm on Thursday, while another for rain is in place until midday spreading into the Midlands and the north.

The Environment Agency has also listed 12 flood alerts, with 23mm of rainfall recorded in parts of the country on Wednesday.

But while England and Wales batten down the hatches, areas of Scotland could see highs of 24C. The Met Office had also issued two yellow weather warnings for thunderstorms yesterday, covering a large portion of the country, before floods caused chaotic scenes.
