There may also be cancellations to public transport and roads may be shut due to the icy treacherous conditions.Vehicles and passengers are at risk of being stranded due to the expected travel delays, as up to 10cm of snow is set to fall in places.Most of the UK has been issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice, but a large area of Essex, Cambridge and Greater London and Hertfordshire have been issued an amber alert.The alert, which begins 5am on Saturday, is in place until 2pm in the afternoon.It says: "An area of rain will move eastwards through Saturday and is likely to turn to snow as this runs into cold air over eastern England.
