London.The ride-sharing app will now be granted a new licence to operate in the capital following its appeal at Westminster Magistrates' Court.Deputy chief magistrate Tan Ikram said: "Despite their historical failings, I find them now to be a fit and proper person to hold a London PHV Operator's Licence."In 2019 Transport for London (TfL) refused to renew Uber's licence for a second time, due to what it called a "pattern of failures".These included at least 14,000 fraudulent trips in which passengers found that the driver picking them up was not the driver advertised when they booked the journey via the app.Uber first lost its London licence in 2017, and after fighting the ban in court was awarded a temporary 15-month licence in 2018.
