Two people struck by trains on Scotland's railway as emergency crews called to respond

Two people have been struck by trains in separate incidents on Scotland's railway lines.ScotRail alerted passengers to the ongoing incidents shortly before 8pm on Thursday, January 6.

In a statement on Twitter, the rail operator said: "Sadly, a person has been struck by a train between Kilmarnock and Ayr. "The emergency services are on their way.

We can't run trains on this route for now, but services between Glasgow Central and Ayr aren't affected." They later added: "I'm afraid that a person has also been struck by a train between Croy and Glasgow Queen Street.

The line in the area is closed while the emergency services attend."It's understood emergency services remain at the scene of both incidents.ScotRail have organised replacement buses for customers travelling between Queen St, Bishopbriggs and Croy,Stagecoach buses are also accepting ScotRail tickets and Smartcards on these routes: 60, 358 & 360 between Ayr, Maybole, Girvan & Stranraer.
