Asda. In separate incidents on January 26, James Heckingbottom and Lee Round were stopped by police who had gone to an Asda in Liverpool to monitor compliance with pandemic restrictions.
Both men were seen not wearing masks while in the supermarket, which had previously been warned by Knowsley Council’s director of public health after environmental health officers identified a lack of social distancing measures and mask wearing at the store in August 2020.
Just before 4.30pm, officers saw Round, 33, “standing at the till paying for his items while not wearing a face covering”, Liverpool Echo reported.
In a witness statement, PC Daniel Parr said: “Upon approach I asked Round why he was not wearing a mask. He explained he was exempt and did.
