Two children swept out to sea as panicked onlookers make desperate calls for help

Two children have been rescued after they were swept out to sea off the Kent coast this afternoon. The coastguard were called to an incident in Dymchurch at shortly after 3pm today.

A helicopter was spotted hovering above the water at the beach and footage from the scene shows a member of the coastguard rescue team being lowered into the sea on a winch.

The children, aged nine and 12, were seen being plucked from the water. A search and rescue helicopter from Lydd, the Dungeness Coastguard Rescue Team and Littlestone RNLI lifeboat were at the scene, Kent Live reports.
