Twenty people have been charged after violence erupted when Tommy Robinson visited Oldham. Eighteen men and two teenagers have been charged with violent disorder and are due to appear at Tameside Magistrates' Court later this month.
English Defence League founder Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley, paid a visit to Limeside on May 18, 2019, during his campaign to represent the North West as an MEP.
But during the event missiles were thrown, police cars were damaged and fireworks were launched into crowds. A 'counter demonstration', by a group named the Muslim Defence League, also took place at the same time of the event.
