transport secretary said the network has to move at "greater pace" to deal with the increased challenge of severe weather as the probe into yesterday's fatal train crash continues.
Michael Matheson said Network Rail was already looking at mitigation across the country to address the impact of climate change and intense localised rainfall.
He also said the Intercity 125 train's diesel engine is likely to have been linked to the fire. The rail network is seeing increases in challenges, across the UK, because of very intense localised weather events.
