A Tory MP has been rapped for lobbying ministers about the interests of an energy firm which had handed him £10,000. David Morris, the MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale, broke strict Parliamentary rules by asking a question relating to Aquind Ltd in the Commons and sending a follow-up email to the Business Secretary Andrea Leadsom - only weeks after the company gave him £10,000.
Kathryn Stone, the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, ordered him to apologise in the Commons for breaching rules that forbid MPs from lobbying on behalf of donors who have handed them cash in the past six months.
The Tory MP asked Energy Minister Kwasi Kwarteng in the Commons on October 22 to urge the gas and electricity watchdog Ofgem to change regulations
