A senior Tory has refused to answer questions over whether Boris Johnson was given a loan from a Tory donor to fund a lavish refurbishment of the Downing Street flat.
International Trade Secretary Liz Truss stonewalled queries over allegations of sleaze swirling around No10, which she branded "tittle tattle".
In an excruciating series of interviews, Ms Truss said the Prime Minister had met the cost of doing up his official flat personally - but repeatedly failed to answer questions over where the money came from.
Labour called on the Electoral Commission to mount a full probe, as Deputy Leader Angela Rayner said there was a "real stench" around the Government.
