A thug pressed a knife into a blind man's stomach, kneed him in the face and demanded his watch, before giving up and returning to his seat after his victim bravely fought him off.

James Donnelly targeted his victim while on a train heading towards Liverpool city centre two days after Christmas. The 23-year-old approached the man on board the train before punching him in the face and telling him to give over his watch.

When the 56-year-old victim refused, Donnelly produced an eight inch knife and held it to his stomach, threatening to ‘stab him up’ if he didn’t hand it over, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Fearing for his life, the man again resisted which led Donnelly to put the knife back in his waistband and return to his seat.
