Three Salford schools to shut after parent of pupil diagnosed with coronavirus - it is the city's first confirmed case

Three primary schools in Salford are to shut after the parent of a pupil at one was diagnosed with coronavirus. The child is a pupil at Lewis Street Primary School.

The school closed at lunchtime today (Thursday). Two linked schools - Christ Church Primary in Eccles and Lark Hill in Salford - will close tomorrow (Friday) because of the movement of staff between facilities.

It comes a second case was confimed in Tameside, and a third in Stockport, taking the Greater Manchester total to 26. Salford council has not yet confirmed an official case, but the Manchester Evening News understands thew Lewis Street Primary case is the city's first.
