direct to your inboxA ‘mammoth’ operation to crack a sophisticated encrypted phone system, used by gangs, has resulted in three more arrests.Early morning raids took place at addresses across Heywood, Chadderton, Miles Platting and Blackley on Thursday (December 3).Three men, aged 31, 34 and 36, are being held in custody on suspicion of firearm and drug offences.Officers seized electronic devices, cash and a quantity of drugs, which will be examined and used in evidence.Police say the action forms part of an ongoing operation - codenamed Foam - to infiltrate an encrypted communication system.Operation Foam is Greater Manchester Police’s (GMP) arm of a national crackdown - Operation Venetic.
