Oxford coronavirus vaccine has 'pretty high' chance of being available this month

The Oxford coronavirus vaccine has a “pretty high” chance of being available in Britain by the end of this month, its developer has said.

Sarah Gilbert, lead researcher on the programme, suggested she was hopeful the jab will be the second to be approved by UK regulators soon.

Approval for the jab - developed with pharma giant AstraZeneca - could speed up the UK’s vaccine rollout dramatically. Britain has ordered on 100million doses of the Oxford jab on top of 40million of the Pfizer vaccine, which is already being rolled out.

Currently the only doses in the UK ready for use are 800,000 of the Pfizer jab - enough for 400,000 people. But asked by the BBC's Andrew Marr if he will receive the Oxford jab by the end of the year, Prof Gilbert
