This Morning has received audience complaints through Ofcom for a segment involving candle and reed diffuser making which sparked fire hazard concerns. The programme received 62 complaints on February 16 over the controversial topic. The segment aimed to entertain young children whilst their parents or guardians work from home and told viewers "not to despair".Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary passed over to presenter Georgina Burnett as she hosted the demonstration. She began by offering some ideas for candle making, saying that it was "easy" to get into candle making while Dermot joked that he had "cupboards full" of candles at home.Burnett promoted an eco-friendly way of up-cycling rubbish to use for candle holders, such as an old jam jar, a wine glass or a brick for a "rustic" feel. She then went on to begin the demonstration by suggesting that the wax can be heated up in water or in the microwave to 70 or 80 degrees celsius.

Burnett then went on to explain that viewers can add dye and scents to their creations if they so please, before demonstrating how to put a candle wick into a container."I can't believe how easy that is," commented a shocked Alison Hammond.Dermot added: "Probably best to do with older kids, isn't it?"Georgina then said: "I think, the older kids when the heat is involved.

I had my 6 year old helping me with all this and obviously I keep her away from the heat, just let her choose the scents which she loved doing.""You could put in petals, they could do that part.
