The Conservatives have brokered a deal via video conference with smaller parties to keep control of Bolton Council for another year.

A revised 25-point agreement has been signed by the leaders of every group except for Labour which lost control of the council in May 2019, ending four decades of domination at the town hall.

The new agreement includes a review of how money used to tackle deprivation is spent, a renewed commitment to look after the most vulnerable and the aim of completing £10m of highway repairs by April 2021.

It also commits to producing a local housing plan as an alternative to be adopted if the long-awaited Greater Manchester Spatial Framework fails.
