A police specials sergeant has been producing thousands of face masks to protect care home staff during the coronavirus crisis.

Phil Leonard said he "desperately wanted to do something to help" after hearing about a shortage of PPE for carers. He runs the Daylight Grip & Textiles factory in Salford, which normally produces materials used in film and television productions.

But, after work was forced to halt during the lockdown, Phil and his staff decided to turn their hands to something new and make face masks, uniform wash bags and headbands.
