Relaunched in 1946, further editions were called off in 1948 and 1950 for economic reasons and, another casualty of coronavirus, this year’s festival has also been added to that list, with plans to reschedule in September now abandoned.
One of cinema's premier festivals with about 30,000 people visiting each year, Cannes has also become a key event in the social calendar of the world’s rich and famous.
